Kimberley Photographing My Best Friend’s Family in the Netherlands
During my summer visit back home in the Netherlands, I took a month off to reconnect with family and soak in the calm beauty of Dutch life. But let’s be honest—when photography is your passion, it’s hard to truly take a break. Especially when you’re surrounded by people you love and beautiful places you want to capture forever.
One of the sessions closest to my heart this summer was with my dear friend, Sabrina. We’ve been best friends for over 20 years, and I’ve known her children since the day they were babies. Photographing them as the incredible young people they are today was a full-circle moment—one that brought so much joy and pride.
Friendship, Growth, and Full Circle Moments
Sabrina has always been one of those rare friends who energizes you just by being herself. She’s my go-to person when it comes to talking about personal growth, business dreams, and everything in between. We lift each other up, and that’s why our friendship has lasted so long.
Seeing the beautiful family she’s built—and getting to photograph it—was beyond special. Her kids are each turning into kind, thoughtful, and confident individuals, and I’m proud of them all. Being behind the camera for this session felt like pressing pause on time to appreciate just how far we’ve all come.
Shooting at Prinsenbos, Naaldwijk
We chose to do this session at Prinsenbos in Naaldwijk—a place that holds a lot of personal meaning. It’s one of my mom’s favorite spots to unwind, and I love hearing about her stories. It’s peaceful, green, and full of quiet charm. Shooting there felt grounding. Nature really showed up for us that day, too—perfect soft light and a gentle breeze that made everything feel serene and honest.
A Reminder to Celebrate the Now
This session wasn’t just about photos. It was about slowing down, reconnecting, and celebrating who we are right now. If you’ve ever been on the fence about getting in front of the camera, let this be your sign.
