Kimberley There’s something incredibly special about working with families year after year. Watching them grow, change, and evolve through my lens is one of the greatest joys of being a photographer. I’ve had the privilege of photographing the D family for many years, and our latest session reminded me exactly why I love what I do.
The last time we had a session together, their youngest was celebrating his very first birthday. Fast forward to now—both children have grown so much, and their personalities have blossomed in the most joyful ways. This session was a true celebration of their energy, connection, and the beautiful chaos that comes with raising young kids.
Capturing the D Family’s Spirit
From the start, the kids were ready to go! Their energy filled the studio as they ran, played, and explored. Rather than trying to slow them down, we embraced it. I followed their lead, capturing genuine smiles, spontaneous laughter, and those unposed moments that show just how much love this family shares.
The D family didn’t need much direction—they were simply themselves, which is all I ever hope for in a session. Mom and Dad were so warm and relaxed, allowing the kids to move freely and have fun. This kind of trust creates space for the most natural and meaningful photos.

I believe the best family photos happen when everyone feels comfortable. Children don’t always want to sit still or pose, and that’s okay! In fact, it’s those in-between moments—the silly giggles, the hugs mid-run, the hand-holding while spinning in circles—that become the most treasured.
